Chair of Trustees

Jacqui’s focus for Anvil is best practice, governance & working alongside our project leaders to develop our initiatives. She brings over 2 decades of experience in the charitable sector. For 19 years Jacqui was CEO of a British & Hong Kong registered charity working with disadvantaged children in Asia. Her passion to advocate & build better futures for children without families led to groundbreaking services in fostering, special education & vocational training. In recent years Jacqui’s focus has been directed towards advocacy & wellbeing for refugee & asylum seeker women.

SUSANNAH OZIEGBE

SUSANNAH OZIEGBE

Trustee

Susannah is a dedicated advocate for health and wellness within the community, lending her expertise to enhance Anvil Projects. With a strong track record of supporting various charitable organisations locally and internationally, she offers invaluable insights and experience. As a qualified Pharmacist with extensive experience across hospital, community, and medical education sectors, Susannah brings a unique perspective to Anvil’s mission. Her main focus within the organisation revolves around healthcare education, thus supporting the effective referral of asylum seekers to ensure access to essential healthcare services and minimising health risks.

Trustee/Treasurer

Ian founded and runs a tax and accounting business based in central London. He deals with personal clients from all over the world as well as working with different types of businesses. He has many years experience as a charity trustee with local, national and international charities. His main focus in the organisation is establishing sound financial policies and budgeting.

Eastablish Project Leader

Pippa is a PGCE and CELTA qualified English educator with a wide experience of teaching all age groups in London and internationally. She has a particular interest in the effects of cultural displacement on education and in 2020 completed her MA dissertation with distinction on the challenges of access to education for Roma refugee children in Turkey. She also volunteered with NGOs as a coordinator of English learning for Syrian refugees and Roma in Istanbul.  She currently works as a part-time ESOL specialist tutor for Tower Hamlets council, enjoying seeing women grow in confidence in their learning journeys.

AMANDA MERRITT

AMANDA MERRITT

Eastablish Project Leader

Amanda trained as a health visitor, and worked in community health both in the UK and Central Asia. She worked as a Project manager for an NGO in Central Asia for ten years and during that time worked as a consultant developing national policy to support healthcare professionals  working with families in a home visiting programme. She has a Law degree, a post graduate Diploma in Community Health, and a Masters in the Wellbeing of Children, Young People and Families supporting vulnerable families.
Now based in East London Amanda works in the housing sector supporting women including refugees into longer term accomodation alongside her Anvil Projects interests.

EWEN MACDONALD

EWEN MACDONALD

Liminal Arts Project Leader

Ewen has a degree from University College London and a Post Graduate Certificate of Education from the Institute of Education London University. After having taught in schools across south London he moved to central Asia to work with an NGO in 1999. He has twenty two years of experience working cross culturally in central Asia and Turkey working with young people in educational contexts and with government social services. He speaks fluent Turkish. He is an artist and regularly exhibits in London and Istanbul and recently co-founded Liminal Arts Co-operative in east London.

 

RICHARD MERRITT

RICHARD MERRITT

Liminal Arts Project Leader

Richard has a Degree in Graphic Design From the London College of Communication. After a successful career in London agencies, he moved to Central Asia and plied his trade there –  setting up a small agency that served clients in Canada, the USA, the UK, Australia and across Central Asia. Richard brings a wealth of business, NGO and project management experience as well as oodles of creativity to Anvil. Now based in east London, he’s continuing to design in parallel to his Anvil Projects work. He’s fluent in English and continuing to become more fluent in Russian.
